Oxford’s Best Burger Quest

OK, now this is something to get excited about!

Beth Ziegenhorn, Greg Earnest and Jillian Pecoraro have taken up the task of going around Oxford to systematically locate the town’s best burger. They will go to every restaurant in Oxford that isn’t a fast-food restaurant (they qualify fast food as restaurants with drive-throughs), eat a burger, and score it according to style, taste, content, satisfaction and price. All of their results will be documented online at a site they’ve set up at Oxford Burger Blog. They will bring along guest judges to get different opinions as well, including a vegetarian judge and a judge in charge of fry scores.

They’ve already visited Proud Larry’s and Round Table on the Square. See the results on Oxford Burger Blog and follow along to see which burger they dive into next.

In all honesty, Tacky Shack has a dang good burger. One of the best in town. However, the absolute best in Oxford is at Irie. Yep, the seafood joint on the square. Charcoal pit with a huge hunk of meat. Awesome!

Don’t forget about the Tacky Shack burger! I get mine with grilled beer onions, mushrooms, & a fried egg! You could even add peanut butter if you want!…..not me! HA They would definately win a bbq nacho contest!

Had Tacky Shack earlier this week and it was AWESOME!!!! Not a low-cal option though so indulge sparingly.

awesome choice on tacky shack!!! totally greasy, but a good burger always is. i love that they actually put a lot of the topping. i had bacon and onion strings…. and they really put a ton of bacon on it!!!

p.s. burger looks small for a single patty but topping makes a difference, and really fills you up!!!

Who has the best veggie burger in town? It used to be Talullah’s, but since they closed who is the best?

Be sure to have the Fried Green Tomato BLT burger at Irie. A 3/4 pound patty with bacon, lettuce, applewood smoked bacon topped with horseradish-crab sauce. My favorite burger in town.
