According to yesterday’s Oxford Eagle, planning for this year’s Miss-I-Sippin’ event, to be held at the Powerhouse March 31st from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., is in full swing.
Chef Lee Craven from the University of Mississippi Hospitality Management Program is the menu coordinator for the event and is working with students to create a variety of foods that can be enjoyed with more than 20 different beers, ranging from Coors Lite to Lazy Magnolia.
The menu will feature items such as homemade pretzels, barbecue sandwiches, crispy buffalo jerk catfish fillets, turkey tamales, sushi and Crepe Suzette. Lazy Magnolia will be preparing beer floats as well (similar to a root beer float but made using beer).
Funds raised will go toward the arts center, community programs, summer camps and art grants. It will also serve to raise money for the University of Mississippi Hospitality Management Program and scholarships.
Tickets are limited and cost $20 for students/Arts Council members and $30 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the Powerhouse at 413 S. 14th St.
