NY-Style Deli Opens Monday

Fotino’s Deli and Market, located between Proud Larry’s and Rib Cage on S. Lamar will be opening on Monday.

According to the owner, who hails from New York, the new deli will offer Italian-style sandwiches stuffed with ingredients such as meatballs, Italian sausage and capicola (expect the meat to be piled high in true New York deli fashion). Fresh mozzarella, provolone, cheddar, American and Swiss–as well as homemade marinara sauce–will top several sandwiches on the menu. In addition,  salads and New Orleans-style soups will also be available.

Plans are already in motion to open the market section of the deli in about a month; pasta salads, various cheeses and more will be available for purchase.

Hours are Monday-Saturday 10:30 a.m. -9:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  1. Yumm Yummmmm!!!! I have eaten one of everything by now and no disappointments. Get there early to beat the rush. Cheapest place to get absolutely stuffed on the square. Keep them coming!

  2. I had my first sandwich today. It was the smallest size – the “Piccolo Italian” which is a 4″ sandwich – it was plenty satisfying and believe me I’m a big eater. You really have quite a smorgasbord of toppings to add for free, so you can really customize and dress the fillings to your liking. Other people are taking notice too, because there is a line going out the door at lunchtime. Well deli fans, this is the closest thing we are going to get to a NY-style deli, unless someone moves an Italian deli owner out of Brooklyn along with 4 generations of his extended family to keep him happy in Oxford hahahaha. Please help me petition Fotino’s owner “Dave” to close shop in mid-afternoon and then re-open at 11:00PM (at least Th-Fr-Sat). Having Fotino’s open at bar-closing time would COMPLETELY REVOLUTIONIZE LATE NIGHT EATING IN OXFORD. Think of how good a delicious deli sandwich with all the trimmings would taste after a late night on the Square ! ! !

  3. I really enjoyed this deli. The sandwiches were outstanding and the meat was piled on so high. I will be returning for a sandwich and the great atmosphere with the staff.

  4. The food was great. The staff was very thankful. The restaurant was very clean and has a wonderful atmosphere. I will be going back.

  5. I visited the Deli today and met the family. I am a born & bred New Yorker and I have high hopes for this Deli. I was not hungry enough to eat and just bought sodas, but they seem to have all the “ingredients” for a good deli experience. I will return soon to eat a traditional deli “hero” (as we New Yorkers call a hoagie).
By the way, the Deli is on the old Na-Anns space, which is near, but not between Larry’s and the Rib joint.
Make sure you have some ice cream at Holli’s after eating your “hero”, because nobody in Oxford does ice cream like Holli.

  6. Tried it today! Had an excellent cold overstuffed ‘Italian Special.’ Staff was attentive and courteous~ food was awesome. I’ll be heading back soon to try one of their hot hoagies next.
