Have you ever told yourself that you were going to grow your own vegetables in your backyard? Maybe you even said you’d plant some herbs and put them on a windowsill.
I’m guilty of both of these statements, but have I ever done either? No.
I am, however, intrigued by the new Oxford Community Garden on the corner of University and Bramlett. For a $10 registration fee plus $5 to $15 annually (depending on the size of your plot), you can rent your own piece of land in the community garden, socializing with other gardeners while tending to the fruits of your labor. You can plant anything you like, excluding perennials, which means you can let your imagination run wild.
As of this month, 23 plots have been designated. For more information, see the article that ran recently in the Daily Mississippian here or visit the official Oxford Community Garden Association (OCGA) website here.
