Sorry, Wrong Number…

In my endeavors to find out the latest scoop–or today’s lunch spot–around Oxford, I sometimes will inadvertently call a restaurant when the staff is busy or the restaurant is closed. More often than not, when no one answers the phone, they also don’t have an answering machine installed to greet customers. Worse still, if a machine does pick up, it usually says something generic, such as, “No one is available to take your call.” This makes me wonder if I’ve called the wrong number, if they are closed for the day or if the place has shut down completely.

A quick recording that reveals the hours of business is all I desire; kudos to the Oxford restaurant owners who are already providing it.
