If the demise of International Buffet saddened you, dry your tears. Turns out another buffet is rolling into town to take its place. When I drove by the other day, trucks were unloading supplies for the “coming soon” Chowtime Buffet & Grill at the former location.
I’m thinking it may be a replica of the Chowtime Buffet concept that’s in Memphis, a restaurant that serves both International cuisine and Southern home cooking side by side. I’ll let you know when I find out more.
UPDATE 12/28: Just received a response from the folks at the Chowtime Buffet in Memphis; the Oxford location has no affiliation with the Memphis restaurant, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for us when this one opens.
UPDATE 02/12/10: Chowtime Buffet & Grill is scheduled to open this Saturday, February 13.
UPDATE 04/06/10: Chowtime offers eight 11-foot-long buffet tables with items such as snow crab legs, ribs, sushi, pizza, oysters, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salad bar and more. If you’re looking for the best deal, go for lunch during the week ($6.25) and use your student I.D. or senior discount for 10% off.
